Overwhelmed by the constant changes in our life, we may yearn for the peace and constancy of rolling hills and meandering streams.

Other times we want the excitement and noise of the city to drown out our fears and pain.
Life. Death. Difficulties. Joys.
This journey we’re on is littered with change. Sometimes we think we’re familiar with the road only to come against detours, potholes, or construction.

Change is the one thing we can be sure of on the road of life.
Relationships. Health. Age. Seasons. Stages of life. The unexpected. There’s so much change we barely have time to get comfortable in any rut! What changes have you been through? What are you adjusting to now?
The road I’m on hasn’t been easy. It’s been a never-ending series of twists and turns, hills and valleys, potholes, detours, construction, and dead-ends. From being uprooted from home and taken to another country when I was a toddler, to feeling different and being bullied. My dad’s early life-changing stroke to my mum’s dementia. The stages of life from teenaged angst to marriage, parenthood, midlife, and widowhood. You’ll find all these markers on my road of life—and many more. But, there’s also been scenic tours, beauty, love, faith, happiness, opportunities, smooth roads, and fun as I’ve traveled along.
We have a choice in how we travel. No, I don’t mean by car, donkey, roller-skates, or monster truck. I mean the way we look at life. We can tread fearfully and dread every new day. Or we can be grateful for the adventure of each new day. It’s a choice. Even when we’re scared. Even when we don’t want to get out of bed.
Life can be difficult, but it’s also full of joy when you have Jesus Christ, the Son of God, as your friend and guide. Because when God is in control, life is an adventure. And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
The road of life is much easier when you’re not traveling alone. When you can talk with a friend. Sing. Laugh. Share experiences. And yes, even shed a tear…or a river.
Let’s journey together…
