It’s arrived! Christmas Day.
Amidst all the wrapping paper and bows. The slow-cooking turkey and the overdone vegetables. Holding back tears of nostalgia or sadness. Putting toys together. Doing dishes. Playing games. Refereeing the children with their new treasures. Corralling everyone into the car after multiple “hurry up and get ready we’ve got to go!” so to arrive on time… “No, the dog cannot come!”
Before the day is done.
Pause.
A few minutes.
Just for you.
Perhaps in the kitchen, or living room tonight after everyone has gone to bed. Or maybe go for a short walk before dark. Wherever it is you need to go.
Go.
Just for you.
Breathe in this day.
Take a moment to picture each person you were with.
See in your minds eye all you have today.
Breathe in the smells.
A place to be.
People you love.
Gifts under the tree or in the stockings.
A meal.
Life.
Breathe in the blessings.
Christmas looks different for everyone.
Some have family. Some don’t. Some are estranged from family. Some are surrounded by friends. Some are alone. Some look forward to Christmas. Some dread it. Some want to celebrate in a crowd. Some with a select few. Some alone by choice. Some don’t celebrate at all.
And that’s okay.
Close your eyes.
Listen.
Breathe.
Just breathe.
Let’s journey together…
I am not closed to my own family, but thanks to God, He gives me an other family in his kingdom to spend the Christmas time. He gives me also a Christian family.
Thank you very much
Praise God for Christian family!
Amen sister. Taking a deep breath as the now!
You and me both! 🙂
Thanks Denise, some of my favourite moments of Christmas are late t night in front of the Christmas tree with a hot chocolate and Baileys. Being still, giving thanks and remembering all my blessings.
Sounds wonderful!
